Second season of the American financial drama. Intent on reining in Wall Street exuberance, US attorney Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) is instructed to go after powerful hedge fund king and multi-billionaire Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis). Reluctant to risk his perfect prosecution record on the seemingly clean public figure, Rhoades is willing to wait for him to make a mistake. In this season, Axelrod attempts to reorganise his assets as he takes on a number of powerful rivals, while Rhoades looks for another high-profile case in order to rebuild his reputation. Text-book second season. More elaborate, with new and engaging characters, all kind of leveled up. But the first season was better. It was more focused on the main characters and their motives and motivations, it was better balanced dramaturgically and with a stronger emotional impact. The second season season is too much off kilter, and that doesn't help it. Still damn engaging, clever, and superbly acted on all fronts.

Season 2 had practically the same effect on me as the previous season. Even the weaker episodes were worth at least four stars. I had a great time all along. I really appreciate that there are no truly positive characters in the series. It’s about constant elaborate intrigue and cynicism, which makes me excited for more.
