The Felicin family are busy celebrating their daughter's birthday. Nagy István, who is an engineer in dire straits and is Lili's love, is also there. The father, Felicin Felix gives him 2000 pengoes so he can try his hand at the things he is good at in Egypt. Years go by and Felicin goes bankrupt. The family fortune could only be saved if Lili were to marry some affluent man. Tibi, Lili's brother shows his despise for this way of life. Lili tells count Déry, who has proposed to her, that she would also like to put behind her all the lies imposed upon her by life, and that their marriage would be nothing else than a marriage of convenience. Nagy is back from Egypt only to learn that Tibi has made an attempt to shoot down the count, who behaved brutally while making advances to Lili. Nagy feels that his old feelings are now returned. For once, he is right. (official distributor synopsis)
