Heartthrob Renaldo Rossano (Mario Lanza), charismatic star of the New York Grand Opera, is drafted and music fans everywhere mourn. But one fan is delighted: Renaldo's top kick (James Whitmore), an opera buff who wants the new recruit's autograph. And his help.
