Geronimo: An American Legend recounts the proud history of the famous Apache warrior who refused to accept the destruction of his people and, through his resistance and bravery, earned the respect of those he fought against. Wes Studi gives a dignified central performance as the eponymous Native American hero and is ably supported by Gene Hackman, Jason Patric, Robert Duvall and, in an early role, Matt Damon, who all play his adversaries in the US cavalry. English An incredibly dull and pompous Western loaded with big names like Gene Hackman, Jason Patric, Robert Duvall and Matt Damon, where absolutely nothing happens throughout. Wes Studi managed to portray much bigger badass than he was told, his Geronimo is an uninteresting character, but he captivates with his excellent English rather than with fighting and passion. There only a few moments of action and, surprisingly, it’s nothing special for Walter Hill. For the rest of the running time, Geronimo just kind of drags along, struggles, and doesn't even know where to go. A boring slop without any ideas or drive. ()

English An unexpectedly boring western, which attracts with a very likable cast. The first few dozen minutes are even somewhat interesting and have some momentum, but as time goes on it turns into a lot of pretty but useless landscape images and a barrage of uninteresting chatter, which is interrupted here and there by a skillfully shot gunfight. I had the feeling that I was watching a TV movie (of course I have nothing against TV movies, but Geronimo looks really cheap and marketable), which also seemed to last two and a half hours. If it weren't for Hackman, Duvall and Studi, I'd give it perhaps one less star. ()
