Following a heist in which a valuable diamond necklace is stolen, a detective (John Stuart) sets off on the trail of the thieves. His life saved by a female member of the gang who has fallen in love with him, the sleuth races against time to reach the gang's hideout - an empty London house known as number 17 - and retrieve the hidden necklace before they do.
