The popular 1936 Scottish romance "A Shilling for Candles" by Josephine Tey served as the starting point for another routine meeting between Hitchcock and his favorite screenwriter Bennett. This time, the murder of a young actress and a young man who (unexpectedly!) accidentally becomes the main suspect in this detective story. The best part of the whole debacle is the final dance music of the sympathetic orchestra.
