Tom (eight years old) and Benjamin (eleven years old) travel to Stockholm to spend the summer with their father, whom they have barely seen since he divorced their mother. Tom, in particular, knows next to nothing about this strange, solitary man who never seems to sleep. When he suggests that they spend a few days at his cabin in the country, the boys are delighted, but when they get there, they quickly grow uneasy. It is isolated in the middle of a big forest, a place as beautiful as it is troubling and, as time goes by, their father, happy to be cut off from the outside world, seems less and less inclined to return to civilization.
