Hársy Péter is a student in Budapest. He races about town in Muki, an old little car, which annoys both his father and Bagamér Lili, his fiancée. Helped by a car salesman, Lili wants to talk him into buying a new car, but Péter is unwilling to chuck Muki away, a car he has bought with his pocket money, and is off to Lake Balaton. On his way, he has quite a few conflicts with an Alfa Romeo and Kéty Mária, a beautiful woman driving it. The incident ends by the big car pushing, without too much effort, little Muki into the lake . The Alfa Ro-meo turns out to have been bought by Péter's father to his son for his birthday. Mária, employed, by the car factory, was only driving the car to its destination. Her task having been completed, she is about to leave, but Péter, who apparently likes her a lot, intervenes.
