Joan of Arc

What makes this type of production completely unique is that Méliès is trying to make a film with a plot taking place before the invention of the cinema. The attempt at historical reconstruction may not be so obvious to contemporary viewers, although it was one of the main creative goals. It is also probably the very first filming of Joan's life.
