English Pet has such a bizarre storyline (you won’t guess where it will go at the beginning, so try not to read anything about the plot and avoid all comments, reviews and trailers before watching it) that I’m very tempted to reward its originality with a higher rating. On the other hand, I’m inclined to giving it a lower rating to highlight how stupid it is. The plot requires pretty tortuous coincidences and pretty stupid behaviour by the characters. Yeah, nobody there is an intellectual, but they do cause the viewer to facepalm occasionally. ()

English A good psycho film for some quality night movie tour. Nothing groundbreaking but seeing Dominic Monaghan again really made me happy. And the quality transformation of his character was also flawless. I appreciate that every five minutes you have no idea what’s going to happen but on the other hand, you count on this piece demonstrating that it doesn’t pretend to be better than it is and it knows very well what the viewer will think of it. English Pet is a pleasant surprise for me and I was quite interested to see what came out of the seemingly ordinary torture/kidnap porn film. It's good, it's surprising, it's quite clever, and it's got great performances from the two main characters, which was absolutely necessary. But the filmmakers got it right and it all works together. There are some logical quirks, but the story probably needed them. ()
