English First I have to say that young adult fantasy does not offend me at all, on the contrary, it is relaxing to watch how the young and the restless struggle in dystopian worlds full of qualm and evil with indefinite ending. The Darkest Minds are in a similar vein and I would even be willing to rate this film with three stars just for the effort to film something like this. But the problem isthat the film has a crazy love plot that resembles the Twilight, plus the authors used really bad digital effects that put this film among the B-listed, which does not help the story either. English After the attack of a strange disease, most children died. Those that survived have superhuman powers and people are afraid of them, so they keep them locked up. Ruby manages to escape and, along with three other characters, searches for a mysterious place where dozens of other teenagers like them are supposedly hiding... The Darkest Minds is trite young adult science fiction that is mediocre at best in its strongest moments. Mostly, though, it's rather bland, uninterestingly acted, and stupid to the point of being painful. Avoid it. ()

English I was honestly expecting worse, and in the end I had quite a good time. It's not up to Hunger Games, The Maze Runner or Divergence, but definitely better than The Host or The Mortal Instruments. The premise is very good and it's a shame that was it was taken by these people, because with someone more skilled it could have been a blast. At least Amandla Stenberg nicely captures the viewer's attention with her cuteness and rather large boobs, and I was interested to see how it all turns out in the end, which is appreciated. The downside are the not very good visual effects and the uninteresting action. Good for one viewing, though. 60%. ()
