English One thing is certain - Elia Kazan wanted to make a very ambitious and powerful film to prove that he did not belong to the old guard and could fully compete with other directorial legends of his time. This film was highly anticipated and unfortunately, I just can't get into its rhythm, it simply doesn't sit well with me. The famous stars Douglas and Dunaway in their roles don't sit well with me either. I can't say if the decisive mistake is in the script or the direction, but I didn't get into The Arrangement and other films made on the same theme of professional and life burnout and midlife crisis seem much more convincing to me, whether it's American Beauty or The Ice Storm. Overall impression: 45%. ()
