Still reeling from his break-up with college sweetheart Allison (Cobie Smulders), Adam (Justin Long) is devastated when she announces her plan to marry to a man she's only known for a year. What's worse is that Adam is invited to the wedding. When he returns home for the festivities, which for him include a nightmarish rehearsal dinner and a bizarre wedding date (with a scene-stealing Kristen Schaal), Adam is forced to grapple with his unresolved feelings, ghosts from his past, and an uncertain future. English The Wedding Guest makes you want to cry more than laugh, and that may be a major reason why it scored so low. I wasn't expecting any big farce, so I don't feel let down that there are no funny scenes in the movie. The best moments are undoubtedly Adam's pleasant memories of his relationship with Allison, which evoke a romantically dreamy atmosphere. Adam's bitterway of dealing with his unhappy love felt quite real to me, he just could have wallowed in it less long. However, I appreciate that it didn’t have aclassic happy ending. (60%) ()
