This is exactly what a young artist's film debut should be. Radical, bleak, disaffected, and formally inventive. That's why the film feels reminiscent of the early works of David Lynch, Panos Cosmatos, AKIZ's The Nightmare, or Chris Cunningham's video work for Aphex Twin. Unlike the aforementioned, with which it mainly has in common the fact that it does not try to convey a story but a feeling, Open Wound has a certain reserve that could be summed up as "balancing on the edge of being boring as shit."
