Plots(1)

Smallfoot turns the Bigfoot legend upside down when a bright young Yeti finds something he thought didn’t exist—a human. News of this brings him fame and a chance with the girl of his dreams. It also throws the simple Yeti community into an uproar over what else might be out there in the big world beyond their snowy village, in a rollicking story about friendship, courage and the joy of discovery. English Lots of ideas and jokes with great potential to be a first-rate family animation flick, and surprisingly, I didn’t even mind the songs. What I did mind, unfortunately, is the way the characters repeatedly harm themselves, and I came to the conclusion that I don’t much fancy humour that relies on the heroes being fools. In terms of the story, though, it’s a likeable project in an interesting setting that doesn’t bore and delivers a nice message in the end. ()

English Smallfoot relies heavily on the enlightening message that we should all be equal regardless of our origins, and should not condemn the unknown without first getting to know it better – mainly because of fear. The humour is more in the background, the message comes to the fore and the whole story is interspersed with nice musical interludes. The plot is mostly predictable and overall brings nothing new to the table, but it's nice to watch and passes by. A plus point for the whiny goat, who eventually appeared in the animated Grinch. An average animated movie that teaches a lesson in a nice and non-violent way. ()
