Irina Koltsova, happy mother and wife, suddenly loses her husband and son, both at a time. Her husband Andrey Koltsov, head of a pharmaceutical company, dies in a road accident. And her mother-in-law Zhanna Koltsova, a domineering woman who had not accepted Irina in her family, takes the little Misha to live with her. Irina tries to get her son back, but Zhanna sets a cunning trap, having her daughter-in-law charged with the murder. Irina is sent to the prison colony.
