Noble Earth

After being fired from her job in New York, Emma travels to Florence to discover herself anew. Enamored by the beauty of the city, Emma drifts until she finds herself being wooed by a young Italian man, Tancredi, who invites her into a world unknown; that of hermetic nobility. Entranced and in love, Emma eagerly accepts an invitation of marriage by Tancredi, but upon their engagement, the reality of the lifestyle she's giving her life to sets in and her excitement begins to wane as the gloss fades. The longer Emma stays with the family, the more she becomes involved with their politics and witnesses the flaws of their blind privilege. Having lived as a working-class citizen, Emma cannot help but feel like an outsider whose perspective is undervalued and dismissed. How long can she remain in the place that her new family expects of her before her perspective on the world spills out? (Seattle International Film Festival)
