Although The Professor tries to pass itself off as a comedy most of the time, it is ultimately a very moving film, centered on a dying university professor, disarmingly played by Johnny Depp, who drops interesting thoughts about life in between talking. The audience experience is enhanced by beautiful music. (80%) ()
I’ve become allergic to films whose plot follows the pattern of diagnosis-melodrama-melodrama-death. As if it wasn't bad enough that it's everywhere around me. The theme can appeal to me only if the authors offer an unconventional perspective. Here, it seemed to be working out for quite a while, so the fourth star didn’t get devoured by a tumor until the final third of the film. I enjoyed the acting performance of Johnny Depp, Zoey Deutch was very pleasing to the eye, and I enjoyed the film for the most part. ()
