English These are technically the very beginnings of French multicultural movies. The first half is a commercial for a good Muslim played by a dark-skinned boy who looks like he jumped straight out of a Benetton add. That’s why I thought the first half was way weaker. However, Gérard Depardieu appears in the second half and it starts to get decent. He makes quite an entrance as a repulsive drunkard only to win my heart right away with his acting. His performance is good that it salvages the entire movie. Vanessa Paradis was also smart. She approached acting in a clever way – the titty way – and now she’s a renowned actress. ()
