English The return of Kurosawa to horror thrillers certainly lives up to its name. It’s very creepy in some places, especially during the first half, where the clash of the main character and his wife with their weird neighbour is only hinted at. Then it goes into full insanity, which, together with the fact that we are in Japan and the characters sometimes do questionably, almost senseless things, creates a pretty special experience. Actually, I’m not sure whether this film is actually interesting and originally unsettling and gripping, or stupidly put together. It could also have been shorter, but given that I went to it expecting to get bored sooner or later, which in the end didn’t happen, this is more a statement than a complaint. 7/10 ()
