Celebrity chef Erasmus (Steve Coogan) and his partner Paul (Paul Rudd) have a happy and rather self-indulgent life together. Their perfect existence is turned upside down when, at a dinner party, Erasmus is surprised by the grandson he never knew he had. With the child’s father in prison it seems he has nowhere else to go and so, after much debate they decide to take him in.  With changes and challenges on both sides, this could prove a recipe for disaster. Filled with heart and humour, this new family looks set to serve up one of the most deliciously funny films of the year. (Icon Film Distribution)

English Ideal Home doesn't bring anything particularly new to its genre, be it comedy, drama or LGBT themes, but the result is quite nice to watch, the plot moves along and the cast is mostly (except maybe Bill/Angel) likeable. So I was able to to tolerate more than one clichéd scene and the blatant moralistic wink from the writers. A pleasantly spent hour and a half with a film that will neither surprise nor offend the viewer. ()

English Two gays… That in and of itself can mean anything. If you, however, realize that Paul Rudd and Steve Coogan are starring in this, you can be sure that this comedy will be fine and it definitely won’t be pointing out or referring to situations which other directors literally relish when it comes to this topic. Quite the opposite, the director turned both of them into quite cute dorks; there is nothing wrong with them and everything works. Comedically, it’s just right and so the movie deserves three stars without any misgivings. ()
