On an ordinary suburban street in Buenos Aires, voices are heard from kitchen sinks. Bodies are levitating. Evil is here. It is up to a doctor, her colleague, and an ex-cop to get to the bottom of this neighbourhood nightmare. Demian Rugna's must-see Terrified is one of the scariest movies of 2018. (Acorn Media UK)

English Terrified is a typical bizarre Argentine mix of well-made horror scenes and verbal humor that unnecessarily lightens up the serious ghost storyline. The distinctness of the Argentine mentality can also be seen in the creator’s/viewer’s perception of film entertainment. It’s as if the Argentines do not want or cannot take a horror film entirely seriously, although they are able to make almost perfect scary scenes. It’s a pity. The plot structure and the setting were fine. [Sitges FF] ()

English Strange incidents are happening in a neighborhood in Buenos Aires and three paranormal experts are called in to look into it. In terms of acting and story, the film doesn't dazzle, but when it comes to the scares, it is very effective, mainly due to the impressive cinematography, which captures the boogeymen in a different style than we are used to. The atmosphere is uncomfortably stuffy, the music is solid, and the scares are plenty. The creative look of the strange monster is also intriguing, and the naked Gollum under the bed was very disturbing. The highlight is probably the opening scene, where a floating woman brutally smashes herself against the bathroom walls. A very pleasant surprise that gave me chills and had me feeling uncomfortable most of the time. 75%. ()
