English This was Renée Zellweger? I bow down before her. I only knew Judy Garland from The Wizard of Oz, so I was quite interested in her story. Too bad that the creators portrayed her character in a rather negative light. It’s actually not a biopic where you root for someone, but more of a film where the lead actress delivers a performance beyond belief. And the ending? Simply brutal. A victim of her times, who has left behind a few songs that will probably never grow old. ()

English Judy is the bittersweet story of a woman who loved her children and performing on stage above all else, but who lived her entire life under incredible pressure, which of course took its toll, even the highest. Her talent was a gift, but also a curse. Above all, Rupert Goold's film stands on a powerful theme from the life of one of the most famous actresses of Hollywood's golden era and on the breathtaking performance of Renée Zellweger, who quite rightly earned an Oscar, both for her acting and singing. Judy is proof that even celebrities are ordinary people with their own problems and personal demons, which the spotlight makes more visible and painful. ()

English "The heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how they love you." - The Wizard of Oz +++ Since this is a biopic, I would welcome more information regarding the life of Judy Garland. The script deals primarily with the events surrounding the English concert tour a few months before her death. Since it was not a particularly interesting period, the plot drags quite a bit with a runtime of almost two hours. However, the film is lifted out of obscurity by Renée Zellweger's absolutely riveting acting and singing performance. Hats off to this lady, as she has become perfectly at home with the role of the fate-ravaged Hollywood legend. (65%) ()
