It would be an even better horror if it didn't have such uncomfortably predictable progression, where essentially nothing happens that is truly unexpected. But as a jump scare horror, it does work quite well. Moreover, you feel uncomfortable when something is about to happen, and you're on edge because you know it won't be pleasant. The involvement of social networks is functional, if illogical at times.
