Maggie is unemployed and beset by debts. When her plans to become a nurse derail, she is sucked into a shady scheme of debt cancellation in exchange for a commitment to work for a certain period. Street demonstrations make Maggie begin to doubt the scheme’s legitimacy. She is about to discover the depth of the oppressive forces that underlie it. (Montreal World Film Festival)
