Told over several decades, Let Me Fall focuses on Magnea’s lengthy struggle with addiction, a condition she is lured into as a teenager by hip, assured Stella, Magnea’s soulmate and nemesis. The film’s fractured narrative style, which bounces from present to past and back again, takes us inside the traumatic experiences leading to Magnea’s dire straits. The effect is nothing less than heartbreaking. (Toronto International Film Festival)

English A very protracted fall into drug addiction, made special only by cuts into the future, where we see older versions of the characters living a different life. This is intended to make the audience wonder how the young protagonists could mess up so badly. But the audience’s patience pays off and the dime-a-dozen “drugs are bad for you” story turns into something much deeper. And sad, bordering on depressing. ()
