Carl Oelerich, a skycap at the Salt Lake City airport, has chronicled the disappearing Cuban campesino culture in black and white photographs for the last 15 years, forging friendships and capturing sacrifice and dignity through surprisingly intimate portraits. We meet some of the people who have inspired Carl, including Juan, who feels that his friendship with Carl will only be complete when Carl’s family comes to Cuba to meet Juan’s family.
