Henry V is one of Shakespeare's most compelling historical plays. Early in the play, Henry sets out to press his claim to the Crown of France. His small expedition encounters vastly superior French forces at Agincourt, and there Henry delivers his famous exhortation to the soldiers. His army victorious, the King visits the French Court where he meets and marries Catherine of Valois, thereby establishing the beginning of a promising alliance with France. English Laurence Olivier is a great actor, but there were moments when I simply didn't believe him. It was as if he was playing more with his voice than with his whole body. Maybe it was also for the overall concept of the film, where you are truly watching a theatrical play, which is also reflected in the fantastic opening intro. Those miniatures are divine. Nevertheless, I still think that Shakespeare is best suited for the theater. ()
