Seven-year-old Ernesto intrigues the people around him for several reasons. Despite his young age, he looks like a man in his 40s and also seems a little more intelligent than any of his peers. The latter reason leads him to quit school; he refuses to attend because he doesn't want to learn the things he does not know. His family is very supportive of his actions, though they don't have a clue as to what's to become of him. In addition, the school headmaster and a journalist are concerned about Ernesto's real motivations for leaving school. (Zlín Film Festival)
