Sandra is mad about football and would love to meet Ronaldinho, Marián loves watching trains; like these two youngsters, the other protagonists of the four stories told in Silent Days have their dreams and desires. But they have something else in common: they live on the fringes of society in a private world closed off from the outside – even more so since they cannot hear… Like his previous film Velvet Terrorists, which he co-directed, Pavol Pekarčík’s latest work treads the line between fiction and documentary. Hearing-impaired Romany children move about in their own environment, into which Pekarčík deftly textures little stories reflecting the inner lives of young heroes.
