English River is a flawless “survival” trip through the inner feelings of a frightened, good-hearted man who made a hell of a mistake and wants to save himself. The movie is realistic, emotional, thoughtful and constantly filled with so much tension that you’re ready to snap. Rossif Sutherland, who is in front of the camera non-stop, gives an outstanding performance. Though the ending could have been done better, more gloomy and psychological, the film is excellent just as it is. ()

English I can't help but feel that this film had the potential to be a proper thriller, but in the end, it's just a personal drama with an incredibly slow pace that I found off-putting. It has an interesting setting but it is utilized only as a backdrop and for comprehension issues. For me, this film doesn't offer anything great. ()
