Plots(1)

As a ferry carrying 300 passengers from Denmark pulls into an Icelandic town s small port, heavy snow begins to fall. The ferry can't leave until the storm passes and the main road into town is impassable. A mutilated and dismembered body washes on the shore, an unidentifiable man murdered only hours ago. The local police chief, Andri Olafssun, whose personal life is in shatters, realises a killer has descended into his town. As word spreads, order disintegrates into chaos as the ferry s passengers and the town s residents realise they are all possible suspects and that a killer is trapped among them. (Arrow Films)

Season 1 (2016) (S01)

English I enjoyed the first season more than I’d expected. At first, I didn't think I would like it so much, but the creators did everything right. It’s great that they didn't just focus on the investigation itself, but also on what motivated each of the characters’ actions and on their family background. I liked both the theme and its execution, and the cast topped it all off. Especially Ólafur Darri Ólafsson and Ilmur Kristjánsdóttir gave impressive performances. I had a great time, and I’m looking forward to the second season. ()

Episode 1 (2016) (S01E01)

English This show has all the makings of a classic Nordic thriller — the usual gloomy atmosphere, bone-chilling cold, and a charismatic main character. The creators did a great job with the lead this time — I always enjoy seeing Ólafur Darri Ólafsson on screen. ()

Episode 2 (2016) (S01E02)

English The second episode maintained the atmosphere of the first, and the events surrounding the detained Lithuanian strongly reminded me of Fargo. The cold felt even more biting than in the first episode. The creators did a great job keeping up the tension, and I enjoyed the intriguingly developing plot. ()

Episode 3 (2016) (S01E03)

English The show maintains its steady quality. I have to say, this is one of the best series to watch during the summer — it cools you down better than air conditioning. At times, I felt like I was in a commercial for a grocery chain, thanks to the conversations between Perla and Maggi:-) ()

Episode 4 (2016) (S01E04)

English The episode maintained the usual high quality, and the creators delved more into the psychology of the characters, earning five stars for their effort. ()

Episode 5 (2016) (S01E05)

English The pace seemed to slow down and it felt a bit dull. However, things picked up, I learned some important details, and the ending was really well done. So, 4*-. ()

Episode 6 (2016) (S01E06)

English Now this was a really great episode! The longer the investigation goes on, the more confused I get. It's starting to feel like Murder on the Orient Express — Andri might end up having to arrest the entire town. I had a great time watching, and it doesn't look like that's going to change anytime soon. ()

Episode 7 (2016) (S01E07)

English Another excellent episode from freezing Iceland! The screenwriter is clearly at his best, and the atmosphere keeps getting better. The investigation had to take a backseat while Andri and Trausti had their pissing contest. The jump was impressive, but I wouldn't recommend it as an adrenaline sport. ()

Episode 8 (2016) (S01E08)

English With each episode, I'm enjoying this show more and more. I can't shake the feeling that the more the investigation uncovers, the less I know — and that's awesome! The worst is when I can figure out the culprit at the beginning and then have to wait through multiple episodes for confirmation. That's not the case here, and I'm loving it. ()

Episode 9 (2016) (S01E09)

English The pace slowed down a bit, but for good reason. As family relationships became intertwined with the police investigation, I quietly hoped there wouldn't be any unnecessary melodramatic moments. But this is Iceland, not America, so there's no room for such things. I'm more than satisfied. ()

Episode 10 (2016) (S01E10)

English A great finale to the first season. I was completely satisfied. I never suspected the real killer (if you can even call him that), and once again, the atmosphere was outstanding. The action escalated the suspense, and thankfully, there was no clichéd happy ending. Instead, I was left with some food for thought. ()
