During the outbreak of SARS in 2003, Li Shan, a doctor, finds out that the government is trying to hide a serious situation by publicly categorizing SARS as regular pneumonia. After being suspended because he confronted his supervisor, Li Shan sneaks back into the hospital. He steals a blood sample from a patient to test the virus, and eventually reveals the truth to the public. However, Li Shan’s solution to SARS has side effects. Though he is just an ordinary individual, the public’s image of him quickly turns from “hero” to “murderer. (Asian Film Festival of Dallas)
