English The director of the thriller Cold Eyes has directed an epic disaster blockbuster featuring the biggest Korean stars of our time, and it's awesome. The Baekdu volcano has been dormant since 1903, but it’s about to erupt and the whole of Korea will literally be shaken to its foundations. The opening earthquake demolition scene is one of the best disaster scenes ever and gives the middle finger to all Hollywood films because only Koreans can do it this real and intense. This time a group of elite soldiers from South and North Korea must band together to face the biggest threat in their history, and double agent Lee Byung-Hun, with a crucial and outstanding role for the first time in years, will be there. I liked that apart from the disaster, the film is also quite action packed and there is no shortage of awesome shootouts or suspenseful scenes (the scene on the bridge is very tense). Visually, the film is impressive with a polished cinematography and the only thing I found disappointing is that my favourite "raging bull" Ma Dong-seok has a supporting role playing a physicist, which didn't really suit the biggest action star of recent years, but I still had a royal time. A proper blockbuster as it should be! This year Korea will be fruitful! 8/10. ()
