I’m ashamed that I I lacked the willpower to resist the call of the bizarre and I watched the first episode. All of it! But the version uploaded to YouTube, so I wouldn’t increase in even one bit the ratings of the TV channel and the traffic of the website of that idiotic asshole. And what can I say… I was expecting a guilty pleasure, but this is very far from any sort of pleasure. It isn’t intentionally funny, not even by chance, it’s forced, awkward, monotonous, boring and it doesn’t even make any sense. And by that I mean the level of the dialogues and monologues, which often seem that Soukup is improvising. It looks like those sketches in high-school, when in the English lessons with my classmates, we had to play a short improvised scene about a given topic. They were badly acted, rubbish, nonsense with nervous actors, and when they were over, everyone was happy to have them behind. If a camera had been present, I would’ve cringed. And I’m afraid that I also felt a little like at last week’s screening of Joker, where I watched a mentally ill person who wanted to become a professional entertainer, but unfortunately wasn’t even a little funny. I believe that we are very close to the moment when Jaromír Soukup will paint his face and begin to terrorise Malá Strana. (10/10/2019)
