Although World War II is a well-studied period in Poland, we can still find characters whose stories are not so well known to everyone, and yet they are very impressive. In the film The Champion by Maciej Barczewski, the main plot focuses on a brutal battle for the survival of Polish boxer Tadeusz “Teddy” Pietrzykowski. Unfortunately, this boxer’s ring was located in the Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau. (3Kino Fest)
