English I quite liked the opening, which seemed to come from the most classic of spaghetti westerns. So did one unexpected moment that nipped the corny-looking romantic plot in the bud. But there was not much more to be seen in Drsná Planina. Not that it was an outright bad film, but however likable the actors were, they were given nothing to work with and the script became more and more flimsy with each passing minute, and when the plot reached February 1948, I was also confronted with certain ideology and my hopes for an average film were dashed... Everything was boring. With a better script, this would quite possibly be Jaroslav Soukup's best film. I mean... It may be one anyway, but that doesn't mean I'm praising it. Two and a half stars. ()
