Sam and Tusker have spent twenty years together, and they are as passionately in love as they have ever been. But in the two years since Tusker was diagnosed with young-onset dementia, their lives have had to change. As autumn comes, they plan a road trip while Tusker is still able to travel, to reconnect with friends and family and visit the places of their past. As their trip together progresses, their individual ideas for their future begin to collide. Secrets are uncovered, private plans unravel, and their love for each other is tested like never before. English "I want to be remembered for who I was, not for who I'm about to become." Supernova is an intimate film with all of the trappings, but it manages to convey deep ideas in such a small space. The film stands especially on the grounded performances of Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci, who manage to portray a long-suffering couple facing a difficult life test to perfection. The melancholic undertone is supported by a likable musical score that perfectly complemented the poignant story of Sam and Tusker. In addition, I praise the beautiful locations and the engaging metaphorical concept of the fading stars in connection with human life. Still, despite its strong story and solid performances, I felt that Supernova was somewhat underwritten and stilted. Better three stars! PS: "You have to let me go!" ()
