The motivating force behind this tragicomic film is the death of a girl named Vera. Jakub, a childhood friend, decides to track down the killer with the help of his best friend, Radek. The story and its world view are influenced by the fact that Jakub and Radek are generally under the influence of drugs. Jakub finally manages to find the one who killed his love. His identity, however, is a very painful surprise. (official distributor synopsis)

English Practically every shot of the Coal Tower emanates an intense effort to be cool, trendy, and who knows what else - in short, the director desperately tries to aim for the teenage audience. The problem is that this film has the traditional Czech weakness, which means a bad screenplay with a contrived plot, unbelievable characters, and strange motivations. It would be worth one star, but the genre, which Šteindler certainly didn't intend, ultimately earns the film a weaker two. In many moments, it is unintentionally funny and can be understood as a parody of its intention. Overall impression: 30%. ()
