Once upon a time, Angolan soldiers fought in the colonial wars of ‘white’ South Africa as members of the notorious Battalion 32. The filmmaker reopens old wounds in an attempt at redemption. Angolan soldiers, known as ‘The Terrible Ones’, used to fight in the colonial wars of ‘white’ South Africa. In the late 1980s, they were repatriated to the depressing desert town of Pomfret. When filmmaker Boris Gerrets travels to South Africa years later and asks remaining veterans about the role they played in the wars, he comes up against a wall of silence. To make them face the past, he decides to have them play in the story of the Biblical figure Judas Iskariot. Betrayal and free will are debated in this gripping sketch of people living on the fringes of history. (Nederlands Film Festival)
