Clear the runway for Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller), VH1’s three-time male model of the year. His face falls when hippie-chic Hansel (Owen Wilson) scooters in to steal this year’s award. The evil fashion guru Mugatu (Will Ferrell) seizes the opportunity to turn Derek into a killing machine. It’s a well-designed conspiracy and only with the help of Hansel and a few well-chosen accessories like Matilda (Christine Taylor) can Derek make the world safe for male models everywhere. English On most works of the legendary Frat Pack, I can find a surprisingly large number of mistakes, but this is a bomb. Insane, at times incomprehensible, but full of absurd humor and immensely funny and striving for the highest rating for me. Zoolander has exactly the swagger and the right way of uncontrollability and unclassifiability that I can adore even at an age when I am no longer the target audience. ()

English Ingeniously dumb and dumbly ingenious - a total parody of a lifestyle, life and everything. Indescribable absurdity multiplied by infinity, which goes all the way ad absurdum. For Christ’s sake, I so want to a man who looks not just good, but really good, like a male model, and I wish I could manage at least Zoolander’s Magnum. I’m not setting my sights on Blue Steel quite yet, but the day will come... Lucky I have this on CD and so can have countless repeat viewings to get Derek’s prize expression down to a T. ()

English A comedy that is almost hurt by its goofiness. I expected many things from a film with such a stellar cast, but what I got was a slightly above-average romp that only exploits Stiller's ability to make fun of everything and everyone with complete obviousness. This time, he takes on the modelling industry with very mixed results. When Derek confidently strides for his prize, I admittedly had to struggle with a burst of laughter, but watching crazy Will Ferrell with his "evil and malicious" plans made me want to turn off the TV. It was certainly not a waste of time, but if someone mentions Zoolander in front of me, my reaction will probably be the same forever: “That was quite some bullshit”. 60% ()

English Jesus Christ. Well I honestly expected it to be more of a romp, but there were some great jokes. Actually, I wasn't so much amused by Ben Stiller as I was by Owen Wilson's perfect creation. I might have had a little more fun if I had known that Milla Jovovich played Katinka (and I kept wondering if she was really hot or horrible) and Will Ferrell played Mugatu. I found the humor of the film more or less quite similar to Smith's Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and the latter was crammed with jokes, about a third of which I laughed at, but I laughed hard, and that’s the main thing. English I'll have Ben Stiller fixed in my mind as an original filmmaker, also considering his previous The Cable Guy. Zoolander is a hard to describe film, with an original story and some brilliant scenes. I can't say I laughed my ass off, but it's definitely not boring crap. ()
