Genaro Blanco, Genarín to his friends and in history was a strange person, a travelling peddler of rabbit skins in León in the twenties. A dissolute person, a drinker and a regular visitor to brothels he died during the night on Maundy Thursday 1929, run over by the first refuse collection lorry that worked in the city. The Brotherhood of Nuestro Santo Padre Genarín takes part in a procession every year to venerate the memory of this unique Ecce Homo. Thousands of Leon’s inhabitants accompany the procession, drinking heavily in this alcoholic via cruces. The event has become a Festival of Touristic Interest. Half fiction, half reality, this story delves into the legend of Genarín and its ramifications in the city of León over the last eighty years. (Lipssync Films)
