This neorealistic story is recounted in the form of two confessions delivered at the police station. Erzsi could not get along with her mother and moved to live with her female friend from the textile factory, Ibi. By the time she realised that Ibi was the member of a gang living of theft, she herself has got involved into their doings. Csőgör Marci never knew his parents. He was brought up in a reformatory school, then escaped, hanged out and finally met Erzsi. She was the first to turn towards him with love. Even Marci joined the gang. Meanwhile, Erzsi learned to know Cziffra Laci and, clinging to their love, attempted to break out of the vicious circle. The jealous Marci, however, seriously wounded him with his slingshot. The ruling of the court is not only against them, but even against their irresponsible environment. Finally, Marci's father turns up, and Erzsi can start up a new, honest life as well.
