The spring of 1919. Karikás Frigyes reorganises brigade 39 at the Tisza. His most devoted soldiers are Korbély János and his followers, who remain faithful to the political commissioner under all circumstances. Nagy Jóska does not let his troop be commanded by anybody else, but helps Karikás when needed. The anarchist Jóska distributes the count's land and wealth among he peasants. Korbély, although sympathetic to his passion, stops him, obeying Karikás' command. The powers of the enemy surround the troops of the Commune. Jóska is wounded and dies. Korbély and Karikás mourn him as they would mourn a friend. The failure of the Commune is unavoidable, but they continue to believe in the victory of the idea. (official distributor synopsis)
