English A visual symphony that needs no words. I usually dislike poeticism in film, but here all the incredibly beautiful shots and the camera finesse embraced me so strongly that I wished for a feature length movie instead of eighteen minutes. Vláčil had an indescribable talent for depicting atmosphere and mental depth, such an amazing authorial debut isn’t something you see every day. ()

English You simply cannot fit a complicated story into twenty minutes. But if you are František Vláčil and you have an incredible amount of fantastic directorial ideas, you don't have to worry about that at all. Even a simple story can be full of emotion and, despite the tragic fates of its protagonists, simply beautiful. The enchantment of a little boy in the cockpit of a jet bomber rivals a very similar scene from Spielberg's Empire of the Sun. ()
