This tightly packaged movie has Eldredge as a gangster who figures there's money to be made in the lonely hearts business. He marries Patrick and together they begin their escapade of conning lovelorn victims out of their money and then murdering them. When a wealthy widow mysteriously disappears after Eldridge has unsuccessfully courted her, Travis becomes suspicious. The manhunt is on and the film concludes with the police nabbing the husband-and-wife team. This film was inspired by the Lonely Heart Murders that took place in the late 1940s.
