William Wyler directs this classic romantic war drama based on Jan Struther's novel. Kay Miniver (Greer Garson) is the mother of a middle-class English family whose comfortable existence is shattered when World War II breaks out. Life goes on in spite of air raids, rationing and sons at the front, but the war is brought closer than ever when Mrs. Miniver captures a German pilot. (Warner Bros. Home Entertainment)

English A quality war melodrama. The purpose and meaning of such a film are clear. To show the transformation of people in times of war and to give them hope. The question is whether this concept is better (a seemingly ordinary housewife surprisingly holds up in the toughest moments) or whether a star-studded film like Follow the Boys or a story in the style of Holiday Inn has more appeal. Regardless, I'm very much looking forward to the sequel to The Miniver Story. ()
