Management (2008)

English A dusty film in the top drawer. Someone took a swipe at Jennifer Aniston because this is probably the first movie where she wasn't beautiful and sexy. Somewhat of weird atmosphere, a bit of a weird guy, but it did make some sense... maybe more real than most comedies these days. I think a rating of average is about right for this movie.

The Prince & Me 3: A Royal Honeymoon (2008)

English It wasn't the pile of crap it seemed to be at first glance... it even kept me entertained and quite entertained for an evening. It's nothing clever, but why not? 3 stars.

Up in the Air (2009)

English A very charismatic movie about an even more charismatic guy who fires people from their jobs. He calls things by their real names, does exactly what he's supposed to do, and handles every (verbal) situation gallantly. I really like movies about people who have something in their heads... Plus I found the plot very original, no clichés. Really thought out. George Clooney, once again I applaud you!

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009)

English Animated films are usually made by people who have imagination and that's why people enjoy them... it's no different with Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Great story, nice characters... so a nice fairy tale not only for kids. It is true that a little more humor wouldn’t hurt... that's why the 4 stars.

Snowboarders (2004)

English I think Snowboarders is an excellent and funny comedy for teenagers. In Czechia it's perhaps only topped by The Can. Plus this is the film that "discovered" Jirka Mádl, which is a big plus for the Czech scene (except when he made the moronic Stahovák), and Vojta Kotek, who is also quite talented... Pavla Tomicová shines again and leaves the audience bursting with laughter!

My Life in Ruins (2009)

English I was looking forward to a Greek atmosphere with all the trimmings... not to say it didn't occur here, but it was still a pretty weak slice of it. On the other hand, there were a few situations here that were really funny... so a nice, relaxed comedy, but it could have been a lot better... or at least a little bit better.

Spartacus (2010) (series)

English I haven't gotten this "into" a show in a long time. Spartacus is charged with energy and a desire for revenge, which comes in the last episode with everything! Great performances by Andy Whitfield, fantastic music and effects and shameless sex... that's the magic of Spartacus! A leader in its field!

The Real Hustle (2006) (series)

English An offbeat series featuring a likeable young trio of professional con artists. It's true that at times the story feels staged and sometimes the people who get caught make real fools of themselves... staged or not, it's interesting and hopefully educational. A good reminder from Matty that the Real Hustlers serve not only the victims but also the swindlers.

A Mighty Heart (2007)

English Great subject matter, but unfortunately it wasn't even minimally used... Angelina in particular didn't sit well with me at all. And she usually does! What bothers me is that the creators once again relied only on "true events". I suspect that the director wasn’t there during the filming at all.

Paris Je T'Aime (2006)

English I would rate the individual etudes differently. The absolute number one for me was Arrondissement 10, when the blind boy tells Natalie Portman: "I can see you". And I must also mention Arrondissement 7, Tour Eiffel, the boy with the big briefcase and his parents the mimes. Next, story number 7 appealed to me, which was about a man who wants to break up with his wife because of a young stewardess and the fact that the wife sings the same song over and over, wears the same clothes, has lipsticks she doesn't use, doesn't order appetizers and desserts, and ends up eating the husband's entire meal...and what's more, the husband is to the point where he even orders meals that the wife will like. But when his wife tells him she is sick, he doesn't break up with her and leaves the stewardess. He pretends to love his wife until he falls head over heels in love with her again... she dies and he is alone... On the other hand, I would leave out the soulless beginning, i.e. Arrondissement 18, which was rather awkward. The rest was average or above average... anyway I will think about it. Nice work.
