Hook (1991)

English Unfortunately, one of Steven Spielberg's weakest films. The production design is truly stunning, the visuals are fantastic, and the whole thing has a very strong fairy tale atmosphere. Spielberg also plays masterfully with light and shadows and has a lot of fun with the camera. However, what he achieved in terms of visuals, he lost in terms of content.

The Replacement Killers (1998)

English A simple, extremely stylish piece, a thoroughbred 90's song, reminiscent of John Woo in many ways. First-class imagery, you can't ask for anything else.

A Very Long Engagement (2004)

English It is all too evident how Jean-Pierre Jeunet strives to elevate the content to the level of the form, but he does not succeed. He alternates between a gray-black camera filter, which adds rawness to the war scenes, and a yellowish one, but unlike the war scenes, which I would compare to Saving Private Ryan, the romance did not impress me at all. Also the story is unnecessarily convoluted and often muddled.

Out of Africa (1985)

English The first great romantic-adventure film of its kind. All other films that came later practically copied more or less this new style that Sydney Pollack introduced. A legend, a must-see.

Interstate 60: Episodes of the Road (2002)

English Bob Gale has originality, inventiveness, and ideas to spare, and it is precisely in this project that he was able let his imagination run wild. It can be quite crazy at times, but the showcase of acting talents is entertaining, as well as the unconventional storyline.

Legends of the Fall (1994)

English A genuine epic film, very intense in content, but at the same time without unnecessary sentimentality and superbly acted. Technically brilliant and absolutely captivating audiovisually.

Life Is Beautiful (1997)

English A charming artistic style, typically European locations, a pleasant cast, remarkable music, all of this is simply wonderful. In terms of contents, however, Roberto Benigni is not so confident. Nonetheless, this is one of the gems of European cinema.

Bad Santa (2003)

English The script is remarkably dull, the story doesn't go anywhere, the individual scenes aren't very funny and everything spiced up with vulgarity. Not exactly the best, really.

Terms of Endearment (1983)

English James L. Brooks is brilliant at portraying human stories of friendship, love, family. He leads the actors wonderfully, and they deliver exceptional performances. The passage of time has taken its toll on this film and some of the situational scenes are not as cool as they were 20 or 30 years ago, but it's still very apt and sufficiently complex.

The Stepford Wives (2004)

English The atmosphere is lackluster, the technical execution is very inconsistent, and the film as a whole simply feels weird. The problem is that it presents the topic with such a dose of stupidity and directorial incompetence, and the actors overact in such a crazy way that it's horrifying.
