How I Met Your Mother - Bedtime Stories (2013) (episode) Boo!

English Who on earth thought this was a good idea? I seriously can't stand rhyming in shows... The creators went all out - aside from going full-on Shakespeare, they completely failed to deliver any good jokes or a meaningful storyline. I hate filler in TV shows, but when it also rhymes? That's just criminal. / Lesson learned: Take your kid to a fireworks display; at least they'll have some legit memories.

How I Met Your Mother - Mom and Dad (2013) (episode) Boo!

English Yet another one of those pointless episodes. The plots were not only unfunny but also entirely unnecessary. The only silver lining was that it finally wrapped up the drawn-out saga of Daphne and Marshall, which had been bugging me most of the time. Everything else just screamed the creators' complete inability to churn out something meaningful. / Lesson learned: If you get stuck in an elevator, don't turn down any refreshments.

Pleasantville (1998)

English This film has a fine cast, an interesting premise, an even more interesting execution, and a script that somewhat wrestles with logic. Well, all those minor flaws added up and made me subtract one star, but I won't nitpick any further. When I first saw this years ago, I was convinced it was a critique of racial segregation and racism itself. But the world has moved on, and I feel like this film has even greater significance now. / Lesson learned: You want to fit in? Just bleat and stick with the herd.

How I Met Your Mother - Platonish (2013) (episode)

English I might've welcomed the consistency in the creators' work if only it wasn't consistently subpar. The only part I genuinely enjoyed (and rewarded with a star) were Barney's challenges. Otherwise, I would be bored to death by Ted's relationship troubles.

How I Met Your Mother - The Lighthouse (2013) (episode)

English The eighth episode had little humor and too much Clint. One star goes to Robin and her egg opener. / Lesson learned: Don't let wandering musicians get into your car.

How I Met Your Mother - No Questions Asked (2013) (episode) Boo!

English The individual character stories were utterly pointless, except for one standout. What the creators came up with for Robin was just plain nonsense. That whole storyline goes to show that the screenwriters are OD'ing on sandwiches. / Lesson learned: If there's a ghost in your room, clamp down on the receptionist. Seriously.

How I Met Your Mother - Knight Vision (2013) (episode)

English It's hard to believe, but I genuinely enjoyed the sixth episode — I laughed wholeheartedly and had a blast. The priest and the knight were spot-on. / Lesson learned: A church wedding? Suit yourselves.

How I Met Your Mother - The Poker Game (2013) (episode)

English The fifth episode ditched the usual frustrated Ted routine and came with a great storyline involving wedding gifts. The unexpectedly high-stakes poker game was also a good move. The only downside was Marshall's road trip, which still feels pretty pointless. / Lesson learned: If you're giving someone a present, have your name engraved on it. 3*+

How I Met Your Mother - The Broken Code (2013) (episode)

English The fourth episode had almost the same downsides as the previous one. Well, almost – Robo Marshall was fun, but the little monster was even more cringe-worthy, so it kind of evened out. However, what consistently kills the vibe for me is Ted. I think I'm starting to get allergic to him. / Lesson learned: Drink antifreeze, you won't feel cold.

Snatched (2017)

English I like Amy Schumer as a comedian. I enjoyed Trainwreck (2015), and I thought her next film would be just as good. Boy was I wrong. When it comes to comedies, I usually don't mind when the writing is simple as long as it’s balanced with a good portion of quality humor. This thing was too lame for me to watch and listen to, and I didn't get to laugh much at what it tried to pass off as jokes. Given that it’s a comedy, it’s a major problem. If it weren't for Barb and the experienced jungle guide, I'd probably be pretty bummed out. Those two minor characters provided the only memorable moments for me that could actually be called funny. / Lesson learned: Don’t ever piss off Barb.
